Learn Spanish
The
AMAUTA Volunteer Program provides the unique opportunity to
live and work in Peru. You will experience first-hand its
rich cultural diversity while cultivating a superior level
of Spanish proficiency. Through the Volunteer Program AMAUTA
and the volunteers are able to make a contribution to Peruvian
society and to bridge the gap between foreign visitors and
native Cusqueños.
What Type Of Volunteer Opportunities Are Available?
People
interested in volunteer work can choose from a variety of
options and locations in and around Cusco. Some possible options
include tourism, social work, education, etc. Currently there
are over 35 projects available.
What Is The Procedure?
You will need to submit a Volunteer Work
Registration. We will ask that you select three different
options in order of preference. You will also need to include
a resume along with a letter (in Spanish) indicated what your
goals for the project will be. The Volunteer coordinator will
then look to match you with a particular organization. Once
an organization agrees, you will then receive your confirmation.
What Is Included?:
- Spanish
Courses: 4 weeks PLUS accommodations
- 4 weeks
of accommodations with Amauta during your volunteer work
- Putting
together your volunteer package
- Orientation
upon arrival
- Participate
in normal Spanish school cultural activities
- One
meeting with the local volunteer coordinator
Spanish School Support
You will receive an orientation meeting upon
arrival in Cusco that will cover a range of topics including
your volunteer placement. You will also get an overview about
Peru, it's history and culture, working in Peru, cultural
aspects of Peru, etc. During the program (Spanish) the student
will have the chance to review the goals/expectations of the
volunteer placement. Later during your volunteer project you
always have the chance to talk with the coordinator.
Spanish Course
Included with your volunteer package is a
4 week Spanish language course. The idea is to get your level
of Spanish to a level that will allow you to work on your
volunteer project.
Your Time Commitment
This program will require 8 weeks. 4 weeks
for Spanish language classes and 4 weeks spent on a volunteer
project.
